Wizard *(Aust Pub)
The Wizard pack provides materials for developing early decoding and spelling skills. There are two card packs - orange pack and purple pack - which aim to increase student's ability to analyses the sounds of spoken words and blend these sounds in reading. The orange pack focuses on regular 3 sounded words, with and without digraphs, while the purple pack moves on to 4 sounded words incorporating a consonant blend. The picture card activities can be combined with the Wizard board game.
Uses
The activities are suitable for word study as part of overall literacy instruction. The activities provide practice in word attack and sound analysis skills needed for early spelling. The cards are a versatile resource that can be used in the classroom, in small groups or with individual students.
