Seeing Red: An Anger Management and Peacemaking Curriculum for Kids

An Anger Management and Peacemaking Curriculum for Kids

Jennifer Simmonds (Family and Children’s Service, Minnesota)

All of us get angry at some time or another. It is how we deal with anger that makes a difference. And dealing with anger is an essential part of building a peaceful world.

Seeing Red is a unique and effective approach to anger management for elementary, and middle school-aged children. Using a small group process, this 12-session curriculum is designed to help students better understand their anger so they can make healthy and successful choices, while building strong relationships with others.

Seeing Red enables participants to realize that they can control their behaviour and develop practical skills and strategies to manage their feelings. Participants come together in small groups where they learn from one another and empower each other. The curriculum builds upon important development skills such as leadership, problem solving and social skills. Each session describes key concepts and key activities, and includes a list of objectives, required supplies, prior tasks and much more. Seeing Red also includes black line masters that can be photocopied for class sets. For ages 6-12
